V1019 AAP Community Cares Project

St. Michael Special School & St. Alphonsus School
 

This year the AAP will be working with St. Michael Special School, educating students age 6 through adulthood with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and St. Alphonsus School, where students and their immediate family are provided with a caring environment in which to learn and develop.

Conference attendees, families, and children (5 years of age and older) are welcome to participate in this fun and rewarding activity.  Please wear comfortable clothing appropriate for cleaning and light manual labor.

Transportation will depart from the convention center at 12:00PM and return by 4:30PM.  Complimentary lunch provided by the New Orleans School of Cooking.  Don’t miss out on an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of New Orleans’ children and their families!  Volunteers will be doing manual labor, so dress appropriately.

Please Note: To ensure a successful event and comply with group size restrictions at the schools, we are limited to sending a maximum of 60 volunteers.

V1105 AAP Kids’ Camp

Cost: $10/adult, $0/child (12 and under), in addition to the conference registration 

This year’s Kids’ Camp at the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas will include food, drinks, and access to all of the amazing exhibits.  Shuttle bus service will begin at 5:30 pm from shuttle routes 1-6.  Please note that many hotels are within walking distance of the aquarium.  Due to construction, walking may be faster than taking a shuttle.

Tickets are required for entry.  If you did not purchase tickets in advance, check for availability at registration in the Connections Corner.

V1106 President’s Welcome Reception

All registered attendees and families are invited to attend the President’s Welcome Reception.  Back by popular demand, Rockin Dopsie will be “rockin” the night away, so bring your dancing shoes!  Food and beverage stations will be available throughout the event.  While tickets are not required, everyone must have a badge to enter.  

Shuttle bus service will begin at 6:00 pm from shuttle routes 1-6.  Please note that many hotels are within walking distance of the Hilton Riverside.  Due to area construction, walking may be faster than taking a shuttle.

V2260 New Orleans Experience! at The National World War II Museum

A truly memorable private event awaits at this critically acclaimed museum, which is listed as the No. 1 attraction in New Orleans on Trip Advisor. 

This event is sold out. Tickets are required for entry. 

Shuttle bus transportation is available from all conference hotels beginning at 6:30 pm and will continue for the the duration of the event.  Please note that it will be faster to walk to the museum from most hotels.

If you are walking, enter at Magazine Street and Andrew Higgins Boulevard.  Shuttle buses will drop off/pick up on Magazine Street.

Upon entry, you will exchange your ticket for a wristband.  Once inside the museum campus, you can explore exhibits and attractions on your own.

Tickets for the immersive 4-D multimedia experience “Beyond All Boundaries” narrated by Tom Hanks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at an outdoor station at the entrance to the Solomon Victory Theater.

Food and beverage stations will be available throughout the venue.

Stop by the family center inside BB’s Stage Door Canteen where you’ll find special food stations and activities just for children and families.

The 2019 James W Bass Pediatric Bowl promises to be a battle of wits and endurance among three outstanding Louisiana residency programs that will compete for the chance to sip, but not aspirate, from the coveted Meconium Cup. You will be entertained, educated, and enthralled by questions covering everything you thought you’d never need to know about pediatrics.

V4010 AAP Friends of Children Fund Fun Run & Walk

Lace up your shoes and join runners and walkers for the 12th annual AAP Friends of Children Fund Fun Run & Walk.  Enjoy a run along the Mississippi River, through Woldenberg Park and the French Quarter. 

  • Entry fee is $25 per person. 
  • Participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
